New York progressive extreme metal outfit CAR BOMB have announced a three-week tour supporting GOJIRA. This May tour will kick-off in Springfield, VA and also include THE CHARIOT. A listing of confirmed tour dates and cites can be found below with more details to be announced soon.
CAR BOMB bassist Jon Modell commented on the tour; “We’re ECSTATIC to be heading out on the road with Gojira. When I met Joe Duplantier in Arizona 2 years ago for the Cavalera Conspiracy show, and subsequently saw him at our hotel for breakfast the next morning, I was amazed to find out he was really into Car Bomb. We spoke for about an hour about music and life and I believe he said to me that ‘the music Car Bomb plays is the music he hears in his head’ – WOW!! It is an honor and a privilege to have been selected to support Gojira on this tour. We have a bunch of new material we will be debuting and our show is crazier than ever.”
CAR BOMB are touring in support of their Relapse debut Centralia. In-between touring, the band has been writing for Centralia’s follow-up and expect to hit the studio later this year. Audio samples taken from Centralia can be heard now via the band’s MySpace page: MySpace.com/Carbomb.

“Psychopathy Red,” the first new track from Slayer’s as-yet-titled full-length follow-up to 2006’s Christ Illusion, will be available as a 7-inch vinyl disc beginning Saturday, April 18, 2009 as part of the third annual Record Store Day. Only 5,000 of these limited edition discs will be manufactured worldwide, and will be available exclusively at participating independent record stores – log onto recordstoreday.com for the list of participating stores.
The blood-red vinyl “Psychopathy Red” 7-inch collectors item will be packaged in a special Russian crime scene “evidence envelope,” as the song was inspired by the heinous Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo, aka the Rostov Ripper, who confessed to brutally murdering 56 children. The song was recorded by the band – guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo – in a Los Angeles recording studio last October.
April 18 marks “Record Store Day,” the annual day that celebrates the unique culture surrounding the more than 700 independently owned record stores across the U.S. and hundreds of similar stores internationally. The members of Slayer chose to unleash “Psychopathy Red” on this day – and only through independent record stores – to acknowledge the support those outlets have offered to the band and to metal music over the years.
Slayer is currently in a Los Angeles studio recording a brand-new album due out this summer. The band will co-headline with Marilyn Manson on the five-week Mayhem Festival set to kick off July 10 in Sacramento, CA. In addition, Kerry King and Tom Araya are set to make a special appearance at the Ephiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards Awards to be held in Los Angeles on April 7, where they will present the “Best Live Band” award to Slipknot. Slayer was presented with its first Golden God Award in 2004 when the band was named “Best Live Band.”
We’ve just gotten word that Norwegian progressive black metallers ENSLAVED will be direct support for Opeth on the latter’s upcoming North American tour. The 23-show stint will launch on May 1st on Sayreville, New Jersey and end on May 27th in Washington D.C. ENSLAVED’s latest record, Vertabrae was released on Nuclear Blast Records last year.
Ivar Bjørnson, ENSLAVED’s songwriter and guitarist comments:
“I am stoked that we are going out with Opeth. We have been admirers of Opeth’s work for years, specially the direction of their newer works. This is great news for us to take back to our loyal fans and friends in North America at this point; the reception for our newest album Vertebrae has been fantastic and unforgettable. We can’t wait to present the songs live; we promise you won’t be let down! Finally, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to Opeth for giving us this opportunity.”

CHROME DIVISION, the Norwegian rock-n-roll five-piece featuring DIMMU BORGIR frontman Shagrath (a.k.a. Stian Thoresen) on guitar, has issued the following update:
“There’s a lot of things happening in the CHROME camp nowadays. First off, the live situation is brighter than ever. Two more festivals in Germany are confirmed. Details will follow later. Then the Underworld Club of London, England will most certainly get Chromed in a near future. Then there’s rumours of a trip over to the U.S., more specific Los Angeles, to show the Americans what Norwegian doomsday rock’n'roll is all about.
It’s then appropriate that all the guitarists in CHROME DIVISION is newly sponsored by Peavey Amps and cabs for the ultimate live sound. Furthermore, the band is busy at rehearsals making more smokin’ rock for the third release. Four songs are ready and the fumes of burning rubber is rising once again.”
CHROME DIVISION’s debut, Booze, Broads and Beezlebub was released last year on Nuclear Blast Records.
